There was much talk of a FF7 remake. Then, in late 2003, we received news of FF7's sequel, as a movie. The title of this epic project is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The film is completely rendered in gorgeous CG, and the graphics are the most beautiful and advanced to date (in my opinion).

The storyline is set two years after the end of Final Fantasy VII. Early trailers showed Cloud around the ruins of Midgar, including Aerith's church. Some former characters that will be in FF7:AC include Cloud, Sephiroth, Barret, Aerith, Red XIII, Yuffie, Tifa, Vincent, and The Turks. There might be more. Please note there are flashbacks to the FF7 games and revisions of the game's FMVs, so not all of those characters might be alive, but only featured in memories. New characters and enemies have been introduced as well.

For information regarding Advent Children, check those gaming news sites, because I just don't know everything - and there is a lot of information available. My personal recommendation at the moment is AdventChildren.Net and Square Enix's official film site.
